Our methodology
Useful first. Beautiful always. Honest throughout.
Weekend Excursions turns scattered destination research into a plan you can actually use. Here is what earns a place on the site.
Selection
A trip needs a clear emotional payoff, more than one worthwhile anchor, and a realistic route from a supported starting city. We favor places that reward a full weekend without requiring a packed checklist.
Pacing
We design Friday for arrival, Saturday around one memorable anchor, and Sunday for a softer final chapter. A plan should protect energy, leave room for meals, and get you home with part of Sunday evening left.
Sources and freshness
Destination facts begin with government, park, attraction, and official tourism sources. Each plan names its sources and shows when the editorial review happened. Hours, prices, closures, and conditions can change, so we ask readers to confirm them directly before leaving.
Access and dietary notes
Every plan includes a starting point for mobility and vegetarian planning. These notes do not replace current venue information. We link to official sources so travelers can verify the specific access, parking, trail, and menu details they need.
Image policy
The photography on this pilot is original, AI-created editorial mood imagery. It communicates atmosphere, not a documentary view of a named place, venue, room, or current condition. Factual destination decisions should come from the cited official sources, not the image.
Commercial policy
The plan comes before the transaction. When booking referrals are introduced, they will appear after the useful itinerary, never as disguised editorial ranking. An eligible lodging or experience link may earn us a commission at no added cost to the reader and will be labeled next to the link.
Future sponsored collections must be clearly marked, meet the same editorial standard, and cannot buy a better score. The durable business is high-intent referral revenue, carefully selected sponsorship, and an optional paid planning layer, not cluttering the first screen with ads.
Corrections and privacy
Saved trips stay in the current browser and are not presented as account-backed or cloud-synced. If a source, route, or access note is wrong, the plan should be corrected and its review date updated. A direct corrections channel will be added before public launch.
